Quickstart

Get from sign-in to a live remote browser in a few minutes.

Stairway runs isolated browsers in the cloud. You use them from your own browser — no local install. Sessions can also be driven by an AI agent over MCP.

Open the Stairway URL your organization provided (for example https://stairway.sh).

1. Sign in​

Open the app and sign in (or create an account if your organization enables self-signup).

2. Open the Dashboard​

After login you land on the Dashboard (“Your space”). You will see Your usage at the top, then your most recent Remote browser. The header also links to Downloads, Browsers, and Credentials, plus a blue + button to start a session. For a full map of pages, see Navigating Stairway.

From the header, choose the blue + button (or go to /browsers/new).

3. Configure and start a session​

Pick a browser (Firefox or Chrome), optionally set locale and user-agent, and choose a geographic egress if you need a specific region. Defaults are fine for a first try.

Click Start session. Sessions usually become ready within a few minutes. Allow pop-ups if your browser blocks the session tab.

4. Use the remote browser​

When the session is ready, Stairway opens a streamed remote browser in a new tab. Browse normally — downloads, cookies, and history live inside that session only.

On the Dashboard or Browsers page you can Open the stream again, start/stop HAR capture, take screenshots or snapshots, configure MCP, share with a team, stop, resume, or delete the session.

5. Sleep, resume, and clean up​

  • Idle sessions auto-sleep after a quiet period (default about 60 seconds without a viewer). Profile state is kept.
  • Use Resume (or Start) to wake a sleeping session.
  • Delete tears the session down when you are done.

Files you download inside the remote browser show up on the Downloads page.
