Navigating Stairway
How the signed-in app is laid out — header links, account menu, and what each page is for.
After you sign in, the top bar and your account menu are the main ways to move around.
Header (always visible when signed in)
| Link | Goes to | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Stairway (logo) | Marketing home | Leave the app shell; does not close your sessions |
| Dashboard | Your space | Usage, most recent browser, team browsers |
| Downloads | Downloads | Files, HARs, screenshots, and snapshots from sessions |
| Browsers | Browsers list | Open sessions and deleted history |
| Credentials | Credentials | Saved logins for agents and the remote Login control |
| + (blue button) | New browser form | Start a new isolated session |
| Account menu | See below | Browsers, Settings, system messages, bug reports, docs, sign out |
| Theme toggle | — | Light / dark appearance |
Team owners may see additional account controls. Ordinary accounts will not.
Account menu
Open the button with your username (or Account) in the top right. A red badge shows the number of unread system messages when any are waiting.

|---|---|---|
| Your space | Dashboard | Same as the Dashboard header link |
| Browsers | Browsers | Open sessions and deleted history |
| Settings | Settings | Profile, password, teams, activity export, compute usage table |
| System messages | System messages | Announcements and updates (unread badge) |
| Bug reports | Bug reports | Report issues and follow tickets you opened |

| Sign out | Signed-out home | End your web session (remote browsers keep running until you stop or delete them) |
Pages at a glance
Dashboard (/dashboard)
Home after login. Top to bottom you typically see:
- System messages — recent announcements (preview list). See System messages.
- Your usage — compute and bandwidth for a chosen window (24h / 7d / 30d / 90d), with daily or hourly charts and an egress bandwidth map. See Usage.
- Remote browsers — your most recent personal session; use See more for the full list.
- Team browsers — sessions shared with teams you belong to (when any exist).
Details: Dashboard.
Browsers (/browsers)
All open personal sessions (with the same lifecycle actions as the Dashboard row) plus deleted history. Click a session to open its detail page. Start a new session with the header + button or New browser on this page.
New browser (/browsers/new)
Configure and start a session: browser type, locale, user-agent, idle auto-sleep, team attribution, extensions, geographic egress, and which credentials agents (or the Login control) may use.
Details: Browser configuration · Proxies.
Session stream (new tab)
When a session is ready, Stairway opens a streamed remote desktop in its own tab. Browse as usual inside that tab. Toolbar controls on the stream can include clipboard, screenshot, HAR, Login (for authorized credentials), and reporting a bug for the current session.
Details: Browser.
Session detail (/browsers/<id>)
One session’s controls and metadata in a dedicated page — useful when you want focus without scrolling the Browsers list. Same lifecycle actions (open, stop, resume, MCP, share, artifacts).
Downloads (/downloads)
Artifacts grouped by session: files saved in the remote browser, finished HAR captures, screenshots, and snapshots. Refresh if something just finished syncing.
Details: Downloads.
Credentials (/credentials)
Store labeled logins (domain, username, secret). Secrets are encrypted and never shown again after save. Authorize credentials when you create a browser, then use Login on the stream toolbar or an agent’s login tool — Stairway does not autofill on page load.
Details: Credentials.
Settings
Path: /settings. Open from Account → Settings.
| Section | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Account | Update username and email; change password |
| Activity log | Download a CSV of your account activity (opens, pauses, resumes, deletes, sign-ins, …) |
| Compute usage | Last-30-days totals, daily table, and Download CSV (companion to Dashboard charts) |
| Teams | Create or join a team, invite members, leave a team; team owners can set a max auto-sleep cap |
Details: Usage.
Bug reports (/bugs)
Open a ticket with a title, description, and optional screenshots (PNG, JPEG, or WebP). Track status and messages from the Stairway team. You can also start a report from the remote browser toolbar so the current session is linked.
Details: Bug reports.
System messages (/messages)
Announcements from Stairway or your team. Open a message for the full formatted body (markdown, images, GIFs). Major announcements may popup once when you next visit Stairway; dismissing them marks them read.
Details: System messages.
