System messages
System messages are announcements and updates from Stairway or your team. They appear on your Dashboard, in a dedicated list, and — for major announcements — as a one-time popup when you next visit Stairway.
Open Account → System messages, or use View all on the Dashboard panel. A red badge on the account menu shows how many messages you have not read yet.
Where you see them
- Dashboard — a System messages card with the most recent items (date/time and a short plain-text preview).
- System messages page (
/messages) — the full list, newest first. Unread items show a red dot. - Message detail (
/messages/<id>) — optional title, full date and time (in your browser’s timezone), author, and the full formatted message (including images and GIFs when present). You can share this link. - Popup — major announcements appear once as a modal the next time you visit Stairway. Closing or dismissing it marks it read; you will not see that popup again.
Reading and unread
- Opening a message’s detail page marks it read.
- Dismissing a major-announcement popup also marks it read.
- The unread count on the account menu updates after you read or dismiss messages.
List previews show plain text only (headings are flattened) and fade out with an ellipsis when the text is long.
